Watercolour Painting of Manta

One of the natural attractions of Raja Ampat is manta. This is a giant fish that looks like a flying bird while moving in the sea.

There are several sites for visitors to watch manta. One of them is manta point near Arborek island. To watch the animal, usually scuba divers go there in the morning. Freediver and snorkeler can also watch manta.

Watching Manta

Title: Watching Manta

Size: 14.5cm×21cm

Media: Watercolour on paper

Artist: Charles Roring

I personally used to watch manta while swimming and freediving in Manta Point. It was a magical experience. So, I feel that I have to make drawings or paintings of manta. The sketch of the following artwork was made years ago. But I left it in my sketchbook for years. A few days ago, I decided to finish the works. To put into perspective, I added a lady who was freediving to get closer to these mantas. An adult manta is several times bigger than human.
