Adventurous Wildlife Trip to Batanta island of Raja Ampat

Batanta is one of the tropical islands of Raja Ampat archipelago. It is mostly covered by tropical rainforest and is surrounded by pristine coral reef. Various kinds of animals could be seen in the forest of Batanta from tropical birds, to mammals, insects and reptiles.

This tour program will allow participants to explore rainforest to see birds of paradise such as Red Bird of Paradise, Wilson's Bird of Paradise as well as other beautiful birds such as Rufous-bellied Kookaburra, Common Paradise Kingfisher, Yellow-billed Kingfisher, Beach Kingfisher, Black-capped Lory, Papuan Eclectus, Coconut Lorikeet,  Palm Cockatoo, Beautiful Fruit-dove, Pinon Imperial Pigeon, Blyth's Hornbill, Papuan Frogmouth, Papuan Boobook and Marbled Frogmouth, and etc.

To watch birds of paradise, tour participants have to wake up at 04:00, make preparation, have tea or coffee with some biscuits. At 04:30, the hiking trip to the sites of Red Bird of Paradise and Wilson's Bird of Paradise have to be started.

Batanta island is also the habitat of Green Tree Python, and monitor lizard. Night walk in the forest will increase the chance for tour participants to see cuscus. 

Visitors who love snorkeling must bring their own snorkeling mask and snorkeling pipe as well as fins and underwater camera. A lot of species of fish could be seen on the water. There are anemonefish, grouper, butterflyfish, moorish idol, and etc. 

Other interesting sites

Visitors who take this adventure tour could enjoy trip to other beach areas by motorized boat, walk to waterfall and enjoy camping there. Or enjoy paddling canoe to see birds among the mangrove trees. 

Sorong is the main gate for visitor who plan to visit Raja Ampat. There are regular daily flights between Sorong and big cities in Indonesia such as Jakarta, Surabaya, Denpasar, Makassar, Manado, and Ambon. These flights are served by Garuda, Lion Air, Batik Air, TransNusa, SuperAir Jet and etc.

Accommodation

There are 2 small bungalows at the beach for tour participants. Local villagers call them homestays. Actually they are small wooden huts that are filled with mattresses. Very basic accommodation. Toilets are separately built outside of the huts.

There are dome tents that are available for tourists who are ok with the idea of camping.
