Birding in Manado City

Manado is the capital city of North Sulawesi Province of Indonesia. It is the destination for visitors who want to go diving and snorkeling in Bunaken islands or who want to go wildlife watching in Tangkoko and Minahasa highland. 
Manado city itself has got suburban areas that are good for birdwatching and wildlife watching. As a tourist guide, I offer birdwatching and butterflywatching tour to the suburban area of Manado city. 
Some of the birds which visitors can watch include: Pacific Swallow, Glossy Swiftlet, Gray-sided Flowerpecker, Pale Blue Monarch, Sulawesi Crow, Sulawesi Hanging Parrot, Sahul Sunbird, Zebra Dove, Sooty-headed Bulbul, Collared Kingfisher, Green Imperial Pigeon, Black-naped Fruit-dove, Barred Rail, and etc.

In addition to birdwatching, visitors could also see butterflies such as The Clipper (Parthenos Sylvia), Celebes-banded Butterfly (Papilio gigon), Common Birdwing (Troides helena), Blanchard's Ghost (Idea blanchardii), Blanchard's Wood Nymph (Ideopsis vitrea), Great Eggfly (Hypolimnas bolina), and etc.

Visitors who are interested in taking this tour need to bring binoculars such as the 8×42 mm or 10×42 mm. Bringing a camera with telephoto lens will also enhance the birdwatching and butterfly watching experience.
