- Doom island - this is a small island that is located off the shore of Sorong city. It is a crowded island. Visitors could take a water taxi to reach it and explore it on foot or by taking pedicab (locally called becak).
- Sunset Beach - There is a reclaimed land next to the main harbor of Sorong city that is good for visitors who want to enjoy the view of the sea as well as seeing the sunset moments. In the near future, shops, offices, and restaurants, will be built there. Because it is a reclaimed land, access to the beach is blocked by wall. However, visitors could sit on it to enjoy the view of the sea.
- Buddhist Temple - This temple is located on a hill overlooking parts of Sorong city including the harbor area and Doom island. There is pagoda tower in the temple building complex.
- Traditional market - In Sorong city, there are Remu Market and Boswesen Market. Visitors could go there by taxi to see various goods from fruits, vegetables and fish to fashion products, kitchen tools and electronics that are traded by city dwellers.
Hiking, Sightseeing, birdwatching in Natural Places
The outskirts of Sorong are also attractive for visitors who want to see natural places that are covered by tropical forest. Visitors could enjoy nature walk in mangrove forest, hills, and beaches to see parrots, pigeons, kingfisher and etc. To take this kind of tour, visitors need to wear sport shoes, and bring binoculars or camera with telephoto.
Usually the birdwatching and butterfly watching tour is carried out early in the morning from 05:00 to 10:00. It could also be conducted from 14:00 to 19:00.
