As a tourist guide, for me, it is a blessing to have rainforest, mountains, beaches, remote islands, coral reef, cave as my work place. |
Most of my trips are suitable for nature lovers who love hiking or trekking, birdwatching, wildlife-watching, swimming, snorkeling, freediving, and other outdoor activities.
This nature based tourism activities greatly support villagers in remote areas and at the same time help us preserve both rainforest and marine environment.
I have guided visitors to many places in Indonesia including to Bali, Alas Purwo N.P. in East Java, Sumatra (Mount Kerinci and Kerinci Seblat National Park in Jambi), Way Kambas N.P. in Lampung, to Sulawesi especially Minahasa highland, Ramang-ramang, Malino, Palu, Wuasa valley, Lore Lindu National Park, Tangkoko Nature Reserve, Manado, Tomohon, Sonder, Tambun Maleo Sanctuary in Kotamobagu, Ternate and Halmahera in North Maluku; and to a lot of places in West Papua.
I learned everything from journalistic writing, to coding in html5 and drawing using a digital app the Autodesk Sketchbook.
Most of the tours in the rainforest of West Papua both in mainland and Raja Ampat islands will involve long walk and hiking in steep slopes of mountains. These strenuous activities may cause severe pain in the muscles of the tour participants.
Leg-cramps and muscle pain sometimes occur among tourists. For those who experience them, there are some remedy available. Dehydration, salt depletion and fatigue of long day walking on the trails cause these muscle pains and cramps. When I am informed about it, I will immediately pause the hiking tour and returned to our homestays or guesthouses. During the rest, I will ask tour participants to have some salted biscuits or I will have some instant noodle soup prepared and gave it to our guests. The noodle soup contains salt that would reduce the cramp. The noodle soup resupplies our body with new electrolytes. To ease the soreness or pain in the muscles and joints, a gentle massage using oil will help ease the pains and sooth muscle stress. The massage could be performed several times.
Massage also increases the flow of blood that brings nutrients and oxygen to the underlying tissues. It relieves muscle tension, and stiffness.

To prevent any muscle stress and pains, I suggest that tour participants bring some ion supply drinks like can of pocari sweat or hydro coco. Eating salty instant noodle soup will also replace body salt that is released during long walks. Sometimes, a body massage will help sooth the stressed muscles in legs, back, shoulder and neck.
I also like reading books and various articles on the internet from topics about environment, architecture, culture and tourism, history, investing, personal finance, and etc.
I love art, I draw human figure, birds, flowers, butterflies and various things that are interesting. Here are some of the artworks that I made:
I also like playing the guitar but only as a hobby.

I give special attention to birding in this region because it has got a lot of endemic birds. Sulawesi island is located in the trasitional zone between Asia and Australia. There is Wallace Line that devides the spread of fauna between them.
